Shortstack announced this morning that he had to ‘catch up on the news’ rather than watch cartoons. I happily oblige and arm myself with the remote, hoping it’s not a morning full of coverage about homicide/suicide bombings. So far it’s been pretty light, thankfully. He saw a commercial for the DRĀ® LEAF and LAWN VACUUM and said, ‘Daddy and I need that for the yard!’ And you’re not going to hear one peep of argument from me! (I’m usually on leaf duty, the first year we lived here I raked almost 300 bags myself…) In so many ways, it’s better than him begging for Power Rangers, ‘Injun (Ninja) Turtles’ and all the other garbage he sees during commercials now that our beloved Tivo is out of commission. (We’re so peeved about so many issues with that box that we’re not going to even fix it, but we’re going to build our own open source machine that does the same stuff, and more! By the way, you will NEVER hear us argue with you about what giant geeks we are in this family…) His request reminds me of that Sears commercial from a while back when the parents bought the baby a washer & dryer for his first birthday.
